Who we look for

Reliability beats experience. Every time.

We have trained members who had never held a soldering iron into people who lead a sub-team two years later. What we cannot train is turning up. If you commit to a task and finish it, you will do well here.

Currently enrolled at MMU Cyberjaya — any faculty, any year
Willing to be in the lab in person, regularly
Comfortable saying "I don't know how" and then learning how

Time commitment

The honest numbers

Normal weeks: 6–10 hours — meetings, lab sessions, your own build tasks
Two months before competition: 20+ hours — including most weekends. This is the real cost.
Exam weeks: Scaled down. Tell your sub-team lead early and it is not a problem.

We would rather you decline now than drop out in March. A member who leaves mid-build costs the team more than one who never joined.

Questions

What people ask

Do I need robotics experience?: No. Most members start with none. What we look for is someone who turns up and finishes what they start — the rest is taught during training.
Which faculties can join?: All of them. Engineering backgrounds are common on the technical sub-teams, but computing, business, design and communication students are all on the team and all needed.
How much time does it take?: Roughly 6–10 hours a week outside peak periods. In the two months before a competition it goes up sharply, including weekends. We would rather tell you that now than lose you in month three.
Does it clash with my classes?: Sessions are scheduled around lectures, mostly evenings and weekends. Members handle exam weeks by telling their sub-team lead early.
Is there a fee?: No. The team is funded by the university and by sponsors. You are not asked to buy components out of pocket.
What year should I be in?: Year 1 and 2 students get the most out of it — you have time to grow into a lead role before you graduate. Later years are still welcome, especially with a specific skill.
Can I join mid-season?: Sometimes. Reach out and we will tell you honestly whether there is a role you can pick up right now or whether you should wait for the next intake.
What do I actually get out of it?: A robot you helped build, on video, with your name on it. Plus the CAD, firmware, soldering and project experience that interviewers ask about and coursework rarely provides.
